WHP Telecoms were awarded the contract in late 2015 to provide a turnkey service (site search, site acquisition, design, build, power) to deliver mobile communications sites in very remote locations, including the Highlands & Islands to extend the reach of their mobile coverage footprint and to address coverage gaps in certain areas to improve in preparation for the transition of Police, Fire and Ambulance communications services from Airwave to EE.
MIB were selected by WHP Telecoms as the Main Subcontractor for all Telecom Mast installations within Uist & Barra. The core works included the construction of access roads and excavations works for the installation of emergency services masts. Many of the sites required the MIB skilled workforce to install key utilities in remote and challenging locations such as the uninhabitable island of Valley in North Uist.
Telecom Masts have been installed by MIB in the following locations:

- Cno an Sitheil, North Uist
- Griminish, Benbecula
- Carnan, South Uist
- Lochboisdale, South Uist
- Hougarry, Barra
- Beinn nan Carnan, Barra
- Uidh, Vatersay
