MIB Origins

Headquartered in Benbecula in the Western Isles, MacInnes Bros Ltd has helped shape the Construction and Civil Engineering landscape of the Highland and Islands since being established as a limited company in 1992.

Company Managing Director, Ewen P. MacInnes has overseen the development of the family based MacInnes Brothers (est 1978) to the current MIB Limited company. The development of the company workforce and the steady expansion of the business has allowed MIB to evolve from it’s construction based origins into large scale Civil Engineering projects.

This adaptability and desire to produce high quality projects showcases the talent that the local island tradesmen and plant operators possess. This longevity demonstrates an inherent resilience to produce projects of the highest standards, on time and within budget, against the logistically and environmentally challenging conditions of the North West of Scotland.
These qualities have allowed MIB to deliver an extensive number of projects for regional clients such as;

MIB –  Builders Merchant

MIB Builders Merchant has been providing quality building materials to the trade and public since its formation in 1992.

The Benbecula MIB Merchants is situated along with the company Head Office in Uachdar and provides a full range of building supplies along with aggregate materials, concrete and plant hire.

During 2007 the company expanded its Builders Merchants operation through the establishment of The MIB Barra Builders Merchants, providing an extensive range of supplies for building, construction, joinery, plumbing, electrical, decoration, DIY, landscaping and agricultural use to the Barra community.

The MIB Builders Merchants Service Team pride themselves on offering excellent customer service including a prompt home / site delivery to suit the client needs. Whilst the MIB Haulage division ensures all orders are fulfilled quickly, despite the rural location and the Uist and Barra distance from the Scottish mainland.

MIB Haulage – Inverness Distribution Centre

To provide the best service to our all our Clients, MIB developed its own Haulage operation. This is controlled via the MIB distribution centre in Inverness and allows the company to control all delivery timescales in order to protect all the Merchant customers and all MIB contracts.

This ensures that MIB can deliver on its promised timescales and ensure that the MIB Merchants prices provide the best value to our customers and the islands residents.

MIB Homes

Despite the impressive company growth that MacInnes Bros Ltd has enjoyed over its lifespan, the company beginnings as a private house builder have been retained and placed at the heart of MIB Homes.

These bespoke residential projects allow the company to develop its own projects along with offering private clients a full building service, from building a new home or renovating / extending existing properties.

The addition of MIB Homes to the MacInnes Bros Ltd company profile has allowed the company to establish a Glasgow office which provides the company a base to engage in Projects throughout the West of Scotland and the Central Belt of Scotland.
